THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE CONVENTION ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE -2

The bulletin of May 30, 2024, analyzed the first articles of the Framework Convention on Artificial Intelligence of the Council of Europe relating to general provisions and obligations. The Convention will be opened for signature by states, at the meeting in Vilnius, Lithuania, on September 5, 2024.

We are continuing the analysis of the remaining chapters, from III “Life Cycle” to VIII “Final Clauses.”

Life cycle of AI

The Convention, the purpose of which is to ensure that the activities of AI systems are consistent with human rights, democracy and the rule of law – in Chapter III and throughout the life cycle of the artificial intelligence system – establishes common principles for its implementation by each Party (i.e., the State Party).
