The European Commission has launched the AI Act Service Desk, a platform designed to support businesses, public administrations, and professionals in applying the Artificial Intelligence Regulation (AI Act).
Integrated into the Single Information Platform, the new AI Act Service Desk stems from a specific legal requirement stating that the AI Office must provide support tools to businesses — with special attention to SMEs and start-ups — to ensure an orderly transition toward compliance (Article 62).
Among the measures provided are: operational templates to simplify documentation, information campaigns to spread knowledge and best practices, and above all, a single information platform designed to facilitate understanding of obligations and access to necessary resources.
“The AI Office will provide templates, a single information platform, and communication campaigns to help companies understand their obligations.”
The regulation’s intent is clear: to provide a single, accessible, and practical point of reference to clarify doubts, reduce compliance costs, and ensure uniform implementation across the Union.
This vision is now reality through the AI Act Service Desk, which serves as a digital contact point to navigate the Regulation’s provisions, access self-assessment tools, and obtain official clarifications.
It is not merely an archive but an operational ecosystem integrating thematic FAQs, practical guides, interactive tools such as the Compliance Checker and AI Act Explorer, as well as national resources and training materials to promote AI literacy as provided for in Article 4.
The portal does not replace legal advice but offers practical guidance and digital tools to help users understand whether and how the Regulation applies to their systems. Access is free, with no account registration required. It is planned to be available in 12 languages, though currently only accessible in English.
